BUZZIN' 1: The Cads

The honour of our first Buzzin column goes to Ipswich electro-indie-pop band The Cads who have pretty much been putting a smile on our faces all December leading up to the launch on January 1st

Very much a band of the moment they are a musical prozac for the nation, an antidote to the misery of The National and their dour sounds and the only thing you'll need to start a party with in 2011

In the past 12 months the band have played Latitude Festival before being invited out to Germany to play a short tour with Darwin Deez and been picked up by man of the moment Huw Stephens.

"Lanterns" features whistles, lots of them, in fact more whistles than the Drums know what to with. And if that wasn't enough there's the handclaps and cowbells all over this Mystery Jets meets Vampire Weekend pop classic. "Skin" on the other hand sounds like Two Door Cinema Club remixed by The Twelves being played at midnight in Club Clique. "This Place Is Havoc" starts off sound like The Klaxons before heading off into something much more organic, an almost gentler stop stop rhythm with jingly jangly intertwining guitars

Literally in the past couple of days the band have been in the studio recording their next single - one which will hopefully catapult them to the UK premiere league - as well as lining up more dates in Germany for a Spring tour.
