Moby - Manchester Apollo - 17.5.05

Moby's new album "Hotel" was a return to form after the pedestrian water treading of "18". Eschewing the samples in favour of live vocals at times it captures the energy of the early rave anthems that Moby used to be known for while fitting very much in the zeitgeist of New Order-esque guitar pop that the Killers and Bravery are known for. Laura Brown's sublime version of New Order's "Temptation" is possibly the best song Moby has ever recorded. Designer Magazine sent our photographer Shirlaine Forrest down to the Apollo to capture Richard Melville Hall in action with guitars pushed to the fore.
