MAKE PROMISES / NOT EXCUSES - THERE'S ALWAYS AN EXCUSE FOR BANDS WHO NEED ONE...

It's coming to the end of April now as I write this. We've had some amazing gigs in the past month - great musicians, great crowd and lots of happy faces come the end of the gigs

But it could have been different - they could have been quiet gigs with disappointed and dejected faces at the end of the gig

The thing is in 9 years of running gigs there's always an excuse for bands who need one

Here's a list of what bands could have used in April

  • It's Easter weekend - everybody is away this weekend
  • It's the weekend after Easter weekend - everybody's partied out / spent up last weekend
  • It's 2 weeks after Easter weekend - people are waiting for payday
  • It's now payday weekend - everybody's out on a works do
  • It's the weekend after payday so everbody partied last weekend
  • You probably recognise a few of these from bands you've played with in the past

This could be any month of the year and if you took the excuse route, you'd never book any gigs

It may sound harsh but the best bands Make Promises, Not Excuses

Remember every single slot on a gig is important from 1st till headline, make the most of every gig regardless of position on the bill

At Designer Magazine we send out a 14 page promo tips document to help bands make the most of every show - not surprisingly the ones that use it are the ones that have a better show
